Chandigarh, June 3 (IANS) Residents of Chandigarh experienced a terribly hot day Wednesday as the city recorded a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius - the highest this season.
Apart from Chandigarh, people in other places of Punjab and Haryana too had to brave the scorching heat with the mercury staying above the 40 degree mark at most places.
Hisar and Karnal towns in Haryana recorded 41 and 41.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, while it was 42 degrees in Ambala.
Punjab was comparatively hotter. The cities of Ludhiana and Patiala recorded 43 and 43.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, while the temperature in Amritsar was 44.4 degrees Celsius.
Met officials said the region is likely to see such hot weather in the coming few days as well.
