Capital reels under intense cold (Lead)

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) The capital reeled under intense cold with chilly winds blowing across the city Tuesday.

The minimum temperature was recorded three notches below average at 4.5 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature settled at 17.9 degrees — also three notches below normal.

The humidity swung between a high of 94 and low of 33 percent.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a further dip in the mercury on Wednesday. According to the department, the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 3 degrees.

“The morning will be foggy but the sky will remain clear on Wednesday,” said an IMD official.

The maximum temperature is expected to be around 19 degrees Celsius.
