oilspill_661421gm-aMay 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Today the oil spill in Gulf of Mexico is stepping into 36th day. The BP officials are planning to put a stop to the continuing oil spill with a method they name as top kill. The COO of BP PLC, Doug Suttles said that the company will resort to using cement and heavy mud to stop the oil spill. In the meantime, the US government is also pressurizing the company to seal the out of control oil well near the Gulf of Mexico. The residents of the gulf states are also angry with the company for its failure to put an end to the oil spill even after a month of the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion. Ken Salazar, the U.S. Secretary of the Interior has lambasted the company for its lack of sincere efforts to stop the leak.

However, a BP spokesman said that the amount of oil spill has already reduced to 1,120 barrels per day. Even on last Thursday this amount was almost 5000 barrels a day. The damaged well from where the oil is gushing out and getting missed with water is located a mile beneath the water surface and that is why the efforts to stop the spill have not been very successful.

The regional authorities are not also very happy with the efforts of the company to stop the leakage and they think it should have been able to stop it days ago. The oil spill has been putting marine life at the bay at risk and the states like Mississippi, Florida, Alabama and Louisiana are more at risk.
