New Orleans, May 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) One of the world’s largest energy companies says that it will never produce oil from the oil well near the Gulf of Mexico. BP issued a statement on Monday saying that it will never explore oil from the site close to the Gulf of Mexico keeping in mind the nearly fatal accident in one of the drilling rigs. It was because of this accident which occurred a month ago that the coast of Louisiana was demolished. According to the latest reports, oil is still spilling into the Gulf of Mexico from the oil well that burst a month ago.
The chief operating officer of BP, Mr. Doug Suttles says that the spilling oil well should be plugged as soon as possible to avoid any further accidents in and around the site. A number of processes have been applied by the authorities of BP to suck up the leaking oil from the oil well. A pipe measuring almost a mile long has been inserted into the burst part of the oil well, but to no vain. The latest reports show that the oil well near the Gulf of Mexico is still leaking, endangering the lives of several species which live close to the burst section.
BP had earlier started the construction of a relief well after the explosion of an oil rig had resulted in the demolition of the coast of Louisiana. Though today BP is relying more on the tube used to suck leaking oil, authorities say that a relief well is a more permanent solution and thus the oil manufacturing company has announced its plans to permanently cap or seal the open oil well.
