March 3rd, 2010 - 1:26 pm ICT by IANSLima, March 3 (IANS/EFE) A seven-year-old boy died after he was attacked by a puma in a park in Peru’s mountainous region, the media reported.
The attack caused the boy to lose a great deal of blood and suffer a heart attack.
In circumstances that are still being investigated, the puma leapt onto the boy and devoured part of his right arm, and it also injured his sister - who tried to help him - in the process.
The incident occurred in the El Mirador nature preserve, located nine km from the city of Abancay in the Apurimac region, RPP radio reported Tuesday. It did not specify the date of the attack.
The boy’s body was transported to the southern town of Huamanga, where his family lives.
