Blazing Fire Breaks Out North Of Azusa

azusaAccording to sources, fire crews are battling it hard to tame a blazing fire in the rugged terrain in the Angeles National Forest which is situated at the North of Azusa near Morris Dam on Tuesday. As the recent developments suggest, the officials are predicting extreme fire conditions for the next several days to come in the mountain areas of Southern California.

The blazing fire broke out at about 4.30 p.m. by Morris Dam, near California 39, north of Azusa and Glendora. The fire which was seemingly moving out of control was battled by Ground and Air units from the U.S. Forest Service and Los Angeles County Fire Department. The scorching fire has been reported of consuming at least 275 acres, while 10% remain contained. 18 boy scouts who were present in the fire area were air lifted to safety by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter.

Reports suggest that as many as six aerial tankers and five water pouring helicopters were trying to put the fire under control. They were reportedly trying to douse the flames on a ridge that is not far from the highway. “That is the best place to stop a fire - on the ridge top,” Forest Service spokesman Robert Brady said. Till now there has been no such reports of injuries. The authorities have reportedly evacuated the campgrounds of the area.

The Forest Service reported that as many as 140 fire fighters were inducted to battle the blaze at a temperature that was near to 84 degree. The National Weather Service has presumed that the tumultuous weather conditions will continue for the next few days.
