Bell County, KY to receive funds for developing an energy plan
March 11th, 2010 - 4:06 am ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )FRANKFORT, KENTUCKY (BNO NEWS) – The Pine Mountain regional Industrial Development Authority will receive a grant from the Local Government Economic Development (LGED) to develop an integrated energy plan in Bell County, Kentucky, Governor Steve Beshear announced on Wednesday.
The LGED will award a $400,000 grant for the development of a plan to explore and locate new cutting edge energy technologies on resources in and around Bell County. The energy plan will be develop at the Advanced Battery Manufacturing Research and Development Center.
The plan calls for investigating electric power generation fueled by local indigenous fuels, the exploration of greenhouse gas containment and beneficial re-use options and the potential manufacture of “green” crude oil and transportation fuels, possibly using algae and CO2 produced by the center.
