Vienna, Nov 23 (IANS) The name of a baby panda born at a zoo in the Austrian capital has been chosen by fans through online voting.

The cub of adult pandas Yang Yang and Long Hui was born at the Schonbrunn Zoo Aug 23.

Three names — Fu Hu (”happy tiger”), Wei Xing (”joy of Vienna”) and Ao Kang (”healthy Austrian boy”) — had been suggested in the online poll.

Over 25,000 fans participated in the activity, and 50.1 percent opted for Fu Hu. While 40.8 percent of participants voted for Wei Xing, 9.1 percent selected Ao Kang, Xinhua reported.

The parent pandas had been transferred from China to the Austrian zoo in 2003, and are on loan to the country for a period of 10 years.
Fans said they selected the name because 2010 is the Chinese Year of the Tiger.

The cub will be officially named at a ceremony Dec 13.
