Asia on tsunami alert
August 11th, 2009 - 3:43 am ICT by John Le FevreA regional tsunami alert has been issued for India, Burma, Indonesia, Thailand and Bangledesh following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake off the coast of India.
The quake occurred near the Andaman Islands near India at 19:55 UTC at a recorded depth of 33.1km (20.6 miles) 365 km (225 miles) southwest of Pathein (Bassein), Burma and 825 km (510 miles) west of Bangkok, Thailand.
