Animal rights group awards children’s film
June 23rd, 2011 - 6:07 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, June 23 (IANS) Animated children’s film “The Green Chic - Finding Dad” has been awarded by an animal rights organisation for conveying the message of compassion for animals, an official said here Thursday.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India awarded the film its “Proggy Award” for being most animal-friendly. The award recognises animal-friendly achievements in the fields of commerce and culture.
“The film shows children that animals are as loving and devoted to their families as humans and that they deserve to be respected, not abused,” said PETA India chief functionary Poorva Joshipura.
Filmmaker Koffee Break Pictures Ltd., who also made the popular children’s movie “My Friend Ganesha”, will receive a framed certificate and will be featured on PETA India’s website.
The film, which opens Friday, is about a family of chickens living happily in the jungle until a hunter kills the mother and takes the father captive.
Their young son, Chiclet, sets out on a trek to Mumbai to find and rescue his father, accompanied by his animal friends.
PETA India is also releasing a new ad starring Chiclet that encourages everyone to stick up for animals.
