California WildfiresAccording to the sources, a growing wildfire that was transmitting massive billows of smoke tripled in size into the sky north of Los Angeles on Saturday thereby injuring three residents, destroying at least three homes, and triggering evacuations in a number of mountain communities.

The essential evacuations were extended into neighborhoods in the canyons on the northwestern edge of Altadena, Glendale, Pasadena, La Crescenta and Big Tujunga Canyon, according to the statement released by the Forest Service spokesman, Bruce Quintelier.

Sources say that the flames were supposedly moving lower down the slopes of the San Gabriel mountains, despite the winds blowing apparently in the opposite direction. The blazing flames became a source of threat for more than 2,000 homes that were situated in the La Canada Flintridge area. According to the officials, as many as 1000 homes has been evacuated.

“Today what happened is that what I call the perfect storm of fuels, weather and topography coming together,” said Captain Mike Dietrich, the incident commander of the US Forest Service. “Essentially the fire burned at will, it went where it wanted to and when it wanted to,” Dietrich quipped.

Sources reveal that three homes which were situated in the Angeles National Forest have been completely destroyed due to the fire and fire fighters were reportedly searching for others.

Evacuation centers were set up in La Canada High School and Jackson Elementary School in Altadena.

The impact of the flames had the effect on the electricity as at least 164 residences in La Canada Flintridge suffered massive power cuts. Further developments would be updated soon.
