Ahmedabad, Aug 13 (IANS) The Ahmedabad zoo is looking to add a pair of giraffes to its collection of animals, the zoo authorities informed Wednesday. “In the next four to five months we should be getting a pair of giraffes. However we have not identified the seller yet,” Kamla Nehru Zoo (Kankaria zoo) Superintendent R.K. Sahu said.

A pair of tigers and three deers were brought here Tuesday from the Mysore zoo.

The giraffes which will be the first for Gujarat will be brought from either the US, Germany or some African state, Sahu said.

If the Kankaria zoo is able to bring the giraffes it will also be the first to bring the animal from outside the country as those available at Lucknow, Kolkata, Mysore and Delhi zoos have been bred locally.

The tigers added Tuesday are three-year-old Pratap and five-year-old Ananya. Kankaria zoo now has four tigers.
