2011’s Most Fuel-efficient Cars Vie For Buyers Attention

Jan 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) 2011 is predicted to be the year of the hybrid and electric vehicles that have low carbon footprint and offer great fuel economy as well. The models like Nissan Leaf as well Chevy Volt have been launched and the cars are in huge demand. The major car makers have been asked by the US authorities to get their models compliant with latest emission norms and capable of offering better mileage. The sedans like Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid are also vying for top spots in the list of fuel efficient cars but they are not new contenders. In 2011 the race for the top fuel efficient car has intensified with the inclusion of Ford Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. This is definitely great news for the environmental groups who have always lobbied for greener technologies to be used in cars.
Inspired by the demand for the fuel efficient and hybrid cars some of the top car makers are also coming up with SUVs and mid size sedans that depend on more than gasoline to drive. To boost the sale of the hybrid and electric vehicles some car companies are offering the buyers with in-home charging stations. Moreover, some US states like Washington and Maryland are also installing specialized EV-charging stations on highways. The demand for the Nissan Leaf is soaring which is an all electric car. The federal tax credits is the icing on the cake for the buyers who opt for the Nissan Leaf.
The Chevy Volt is among the top fuel efficient cars that is selling really well. It has already bagged a number of coveted car awards.
