12 peacocks die due to heat wave
April 28th, 2010 - 10:24 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, April 28 (IANS) The severe heat wave has claimed the lives of about a dozen peacocks in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district, forest officials said Wednesday.”The carcasses of peacocks were found Tuesday night near the Karah temple area in the district,” Divisional Forest Officer K.S. Bhadauria told IANS.
“The post-mortem report revealed that all the peacocks had died of dehydration caused due to intense heat,” he added.
The maximum temperature in Sidhi and Khajuraho was 46 degrees Celsius while in Gwalior it was 44 degrees.
Many parts of the state, including Bhopal, have touched maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius this summer. The night temperature has also risen sharply during the past few days in various parts of the state.
