Mumbai, July 30 (IANS) Kamia Malhotra, the popular TV star of the 1980s still remembered for playing the role of Abhinav Chaturvedi’s girlfriend in “Hum Log”, makes a comeback in showbiz as a producer. She is producing the movie “Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai” that has two of the greatest yesteryear’s stars - Rekha and Shatrughan Sinha. Kamia, who has worked with many acclaimed directors like Ramesh Sippy and Prakash Jha and has played significant roles in some of the popular serials including “Hum Log”, “Buniyaad”, “Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne” and “Ghar Jamai”, is returning to showbiz after 20 years.
“The shooting for the film started on July 21 at ND Studios, Karjat. We will wrap it as soon as possible,” said Kamia, who is co-producing the movie with Shatrughan Sinha’s wife Poonam.
Kamia is also acting in the film and says she was planning to enter the industry for a long time.
“I was planning it for a long time. I’m glad it happened and that I am working with two biggest stars of Bollywood. There can not be anyone better than Rekhaji to play the role which is very dynamic,” Kamia quipped without divulging much about her character in the film.
About Shatrughan’s character, she said: “Shatruji is playing a prince type of a character which will be very interesting to watch.”
Denying media reports that Rekha halted the shoot for five days, she said: “The reports are completely false and no such incident occurred as reported in some section of media. Actually Rekhaji was not required for shoot during that schedule. We will start shooting extensively from Aug 1 and all the actors will be present then.”
“Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai” is also a comeback after 15 years for director Ramesh Talwar whose last film was “Sahibaan” with Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit.
The film also stars Hrishita Bhatt and Satish Shah in important roles. The music for the film has been scored by Monty Sharma.
Kamia runs a hospitality business and owns a chain of pubs and restaurants in Mumbai.
