Oct 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was the second installment of the X Factor at the judges homes. The thirty two remaining acts were split into four categories last week, namely girls, boys, over 30s, and groups. Simon Cowell had the girls, LA Reid has the boys, Nicole Scherzinger has the over 30s, and Paula Abdul has the groups. The contestants then performed songs which had been hand selected by each judge. Last night on ‘The X Factor’, it was time to find out who made it through, only sixteen of the thirty two acts will go on to next week. Each judge will have their own final four.

Jazzlyn Little performed ‘I Will Survive’ in an entirely new and jazzy style. Simon was once again lounging by the pool barefoot in a white shirt, jeans, and shades. He nodded along as if enjoying the tune, but didn’t seem too impressed when discussing her with his team. Stereo Hoggz sang ‘Heard it Through the Grapevine’ for Paula Abdul and Pherrel. Their lead singer did an awesome job, and the tune rocked, although the choreography needed a little help. (Paula’s specialty!) Pherrel said the the lead singer was a Motown guy mixed with Genuine.

Josh Krajcik sang for Nicole and Enrique Iglesias. He performed ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’. He received an applause from both Nicole and Enrique, and brought tears to Nicole’s eyes, as well as my own. They called him “rough around the edges,” and “not your typical star,” but he was obviously a star.

Tim Cifers sang ‘Dance With my Father’ for LA and Rihanna. Rihanna loved his voice, and called him “a real country singer.” LA wanted more, although it was good. Rachel Crowe, the thirteen year old who just wants her own bathroom, sang ‘I Want it That Way’ for Simon. He told her that it was “well done.” With his team, he exclaimed, “That was unbelievable,” and he loves that she takes risks.

Going from the youngest to the oldest, Leroy Bell was next. He has just turned sixty years old. Singing ‘To Make You Feel My Love’, Leroy’s raspy voice was perfect. Nicole and Enrique listened intently as he performed. Enrique clapped for him, and Nicole thanked him. She felt that he was the most nervous, and that it kept him from giving his all. She thinks he is just the coolest. “What are you gonna do?” Enrique asked her. “What AM I gonna do?” She answered.

Illusion Confusion performed ‘Let’s Dance’ for Paula and Pherrel. Pherrel liked their drive, but felt that their ambition out did their ability. Tiger Budbill was up next, to sing for Nicole. He shared that he wanted to win not just for himself, but his loved ones…his 83 year old mother could just relax, sitting on the deck, enjoying her last years. He sang ‘There’s Always Tomorrow’. Nicole said that at times, his voice is effortless, but she wondered if there was a market for his style. Enrique feels that there should be no rules when it comes to music, anyone can get in if they have the talent.

Many more acts performed, and a few stood out, such as Marcus Canty, Crista Collins, and Chris Rene. Each judge had to choose only four acts to go through to the next round. It was not easy for any of them, and became quite emotional. Their choices will be revealed on Tuesday’s night’s show.
