Oct 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last night was day two of ‘The X Factor Boot Camp’. By the end of the night, only thirty two of the original one hundred and sixty plus contestants. They were placed in various groups, and asked to perform in front of judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Schwerzinger, and LA Reid. After boot camp, the remaining contestants will be separated into four groups, guys, girls, under 30, and groups. Then the judges will be assigned one to each group to mentor them and hopefully lead one of their own to be the winner of the largest prize in television and music history. The winner walks away with a five million dollar contract with Sony.

Thirteen year old Rachel Crow belted out her rendition of ‘If I Were a Boy’ and showed her talent, her spirit, and her determination. The crowd, and the judges loved her. Josh Krajcik stood out with his performance of ‘Up to the Mountain’ by Kelly Clarkston as well. At the end of the night, it was time for the judges to choose the thirty two contestants who would move on to the next round.

As Stacy Francis prepared to sing, Simon asked her if there was anything more that she could tell them about herself, so that they could know more about her. She had already shared the story of her abusive ex, who had left her with low self esteem. She had lost seventy pounds before becoming a contestant. Last night she revealed that her father had died the night she arrived for the competition. She said that she had to choose to miss her father’s funeral, and would have to live with that the rest of her life. She added that her mother told her that it was what her father would want for her.

Soon it was time for the results for the Top 32 Contestants. The girls are up to be revealed first. Caitlin Koch is safe. Tora is safe. Simon Battle is safe. Drew is also safe, as is Rachel Crow. For the groups, The Stereo Hogzz. 2Squared. 4Shore. The Brewer Boys. Illusion Confusion, and The Anser. Fourteen of the boys and girls who had not made it through were called back in to be formed into the remaining groups to make up the eight. And in the Over 30’s category, Elaine Gibbs. Tiger. Leroy Bell. James Kenny. Burrito Josh, Christa Collins. Dexter and Stacy Frances.

Then the judges were assigned their categories, of who they would mentor. Paula Abdul got the groups, Simon Cowell was given the girls, LA Reid got the boys, and Nicole got the Over 30’s.
