Sep 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last night was the Season Premiere of Simon Cowell’s new ‘X Factor’. The judges were Simon Cowell, LA Reid, Cheryl Cole, and Paula Abdul. The winner of this season will receive the biggest prize ever given on television, a contract with Sony which guarantees five million dollars to the winner. Miranda came out to audition and said that she wanted to be the next Madonna. She had the look, but she did not have the voice. When Simon told her that she was not a good singer, she told him that he was wrong. She received four no votes, however.

Simone Battle, a 21 year old USC student dreams of being a Pop icon. She feels that she is fierce, which means she exudes self confidence. She described her sound as a threesome between a cheerleader, a hipster and a drag queen, whatever that means. She was stopped pretty quickly by Simon, who said she interested him. He really liked her. Cheryl likes it as well. LA was not as impressed and did not like her at all. Simon asked her to sing with no music so that they could hear her voice. She sang her heart out and did very well.

LA still was not excited by her performance. Simon, yet again, disagreed with LA, who could not be swayed. It was rare to see Simon arguing in favor of a star. Simon said yes, LA said no, and Cheryl said yes. Paula was the tie breaker who said yes as well. A new rivalry is being formed between LA and Simon and yet they both respect each other a great deal. These two men continued to disagree all throughout the night.
