X Factor Season Premiere: Marcus Canton’s Last Chance
September 22nd, 2011 - 1:08 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonSep 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last night’s season premiere of ‘The X Factor’ was shot in LA and Seattle. Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, LA Reid, and Nicole Sherzinger were there to vote whether the contestants would go on through to the next round. The winner of this season will receive the biggest prize ever given on television…a five million dollar Sony contract.
Twenty year old Marcus said that this audition is his last chance. His mom gave him two years to try for a career in music, after that he has to go and get a degree. He sang, “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder. He asked the audience to clap along with him. He gave a terrific performance, dancing and smiling as he sang the song brilliantly. The audience seemed to love him and the judges were dancing in their seats. Marcus received a standing ovation and fell on the floor crying.
LA said that Marcus was another Bobby Brown, and Paula agreed. Nicole said that Marcus is what they have been waiting for, and Paula added that everything about him was relevant, fresh, and adorable. Simon felt that he did an amazing job, and added that he was more like Usher. Marcus said that Usher is his idol. “Marcus, you are one to watch,” Simon said. LA, Nicole, Paula, and Simon all gave him a yes.
