Sep 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The second night of the Season Premiere of X Factor did not turn out nearly as well as the first. The Miami auditions produced very little talent, and the ones in Dallas were not looking so good either. Contestants ages twelve and over were competing for the biggest prize ever given in television or music… a five million dollar contract with Sony. Judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger seemed disheartened.

Dexter is forty nine years old, and sees this as his last chance to come back as a musician. He is living on couches from house to house. Dexter was formerly in a band, but has been out of the music scene for a while. He took the stage being very loud and proud, and performed a bit of ‘Sex Machine’. Simon was obviously not impressed with the song, and Paula admitted that she would have liked to have seen more originality. Instead of giving Dexter an immediate no, Simon gave him one more second chance, and told him to sing something else.

Everything went quiet, and suddenly Dexter belted out ‘Man’s World’ from the bottom of his heart. LA smiled and watched with interest, Nicole nodded, Paula smiled, and Simon said, “That is what you call ‘taking your moment’.” The audience went wild. LA went out on a limb for him and said yes. Nicole called him one of the funkiest cats she had seen and said yes. Paula told him to come back, not as James Brown, but as Dexter, and she said yes. Simon said this is why they have an audience. He gave him is fourth yes.
