X-factor in a spot over ‘Tesco Plugs’
October 10th, 2010 - 10:03 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Oct 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A rival supermarket has accused the producers of the X-Factor show for giving UK’s leading supermarket, Tesco unfair exposure.
The supermarket has however denied any contractual agreement with the producers of X-Factor to mention the supermarket on the show. However what readers might find interesting to know is that Tesco has been given the exclusive rights to sell the X-Factor’s new magazines and other products in its supermarket.
On last night’s first live final, the supermarket was mentioned 3 times and shown once. However that may be because one of the show’s favorites works with Tesco.
50-year-old Mary Byrne who is seen as the favorite by many people, is an employee of Tesco. She was at last night’s finals and it is just fair that her shop was mentioned.
According to other rival companies, that is not the case at all. They argue that there are other rival shops that have representatives on the show and their companies have not gotten more than a single mention on the program. They argue that it is difficult for viewers of the show not to notice Tesco on the show.
Tesco has been mentioned not less that eight times since the show commenced this season.
