X Factor: Boot Camp Underway!

Oct 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last night on ‘The X Factor’, judges Simon Cowell, LA Reid, Paula Abdul, and Nicole Scherzinger were all on hand to judge the opening acts of “X Factor Boot Camp.” One hundred and sixty two acts are heading into the toughest week they have ever experienced in their singing careers. When Boot Camp is over, there will only be thirty two of them left. Only one hundred will be left after the first weeding out, which will continue until there is 32.

Eventually, there will be four different categories for the show. There will be a “boys,” “girls,” “Over 30’s,” and “Groups” category. The four judges will then be given a group to mentor, and will essentially be competing against each other as well. Next week, the acts will be judged on such things as vocals, dance, performance or attitude, and style. The first weeding out left many contestants crying, and one who insists that his life is over.

The judges then studied closely as seven groups came out to perform. The first bunch sang ‘Creep’ by Radiohead. The judges were especially impressed with Audrey Turner. She sang with Drew Ryniewicz, Dexter Haygood, Caitlin Koch, and Elaine Gibbs. Group number two sang ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2. Jazzlyn Little, who shocked the judges last week, went first, but forgot some of the words, although she did not let it slow her down.

The song for group three was ‘Desperado’ by The Eagles. Paige Ogle, Leroy Bell, Dani Knights, and Cari Fletcher performed the song with Skyelore Anderson, who also forgot some of the lyrics. Group four gave a wonderful rendition of ‘Wishing On a Star’. Tinuke Oyeful, Brian Bradley, Reina Williams, Lauren Ashley, and Jennifer Nichols rapped and sang the tune. ‘Superman’ by Five for Fighting was sang by the next group, whose best member is Josh Krajcik, the amazing man who wowed the judges and really impressed Simon last week.

The last two groups sang ‘I Have Nothing’ by Whitney Houston, and ‘Run’ by Leona Lewis. Rachel Crow rocked the first song, and Emily really stood out on the second. On tonight’s show, a third of the groups will be sent home, and then they will be divided into the four categories. That is when the judges will find out who they will mentor, and try to push to victory on ‘The X Factor’.
