Los Angeles, Mar 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Columbus Police Department has defended their decision to arrest WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard. The footage of the arrest was published online by the celebrity website, TMZ.

A spokesperson for the Columbus Police Department said the video that appeared on the Internet was just part of the whole story. The shocking video that was posted on the Internet showed three officers wrestling Gaspard down and cuffing him down. Gaspard and other onlookers in the video could be heard shouting that he has done nothing wrong.

According to police rep Sgt. Rich Weiner the decision to arrest Gaspard was taken after he refused a direct order from an officer on duty to move away from the street because he was obstructing traffic. Weiner claimed that the officer initially asked Gaspard to produce his ID but when he refused, he decided to take him into custody. A scuffle then ensued between Gaspard and the officer prompting the other officers to move in to arrest the wrestler.

Weiner says that the piece in the video where the officers were all over Gaspard “does not show the events which led to Mr. Gaspard being put on the ground and being placed in handcuffs.”
