Sydney, July 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) WWE star CM Punk has apologized for his homophobic rants at a fan in Australia recently. The wrestler was caught on camera saying “You homo!” The remark is expected to get on the wrong cord of several people including the right group Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). Punk was involved in verbal exchanges with the fan when he made the remark.

WWE has distanced themselves from the comments of Punk insisting that the organization does not condone homophobic statements. The organization has in the past worked with the GLAAD to promote videos which fights against homophobia. A rep of WWE told the celebrity website TMZ.com that Punk is solely responsible for the comments he made.

The rep was quoted by the website as saying that, “WWE does not condone this type of language or bias and we reinforce that with our talent who are independent contractors.”

Time seem to have changed the professional wrestler’s view on his actions. Taking to his Twitter account, Punk told his followers and fans that, “…I’m embarrassed. I own up to being a total douche in this situation and I offer a sincere apology to anybody I hurt with careless words.”

TMZ reported that their calls to GLAAD for their views on Punk’s actions were not returned by the organization.
