Apr 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Edge, The Rated R Superstar, made his way to the ring last night on WWE Friday Night Smackdown with the World Heavyweight Championship belt across his shoulder. He reminded the fans that he had made an announcement on Monday Night Raw which shared the sad news that he will be retiring from the WWE for medical reasons.

Edge thanked everyone for his success, and said that he would have never gotten tired of the energy which the fans feed him each time he comes out. The fans began to chant, “Thank you, Edge.” He shared with them that they had always given him goosebumps, “And I have to do this one more time. So if you all will bear with me, I am going back there, the coming back out here, to do it one last time. As he re-entered the arena, the crowd went wild, and he ate it up, Edge is definitely meant to be an entertainer. Edge has won thirty one championships in his career as a wrestler.

Edge said that the outpouring from everyone in the WWE Universe has been awesome ever since he announced his retirement. Although many are sad about it, he is glad that the WWE doctors caught it before his scheduled Ladder Match, where he could have hit the mat, and never been able to get up. He shared that he and his girl are going to get their dogs and vacation. He was thrilled to get to say goodbye in Albany, NY, since Albany is where he won his first championship. He also noted that he had chosen the name “Edge” while sitting in a taxi in Albany.

Edge introduced his mom, the “strongest woman in the world” who was sitting in the crowd with tears in her eyes. He said that without her support he would not be standing there now as the crowd cheered “Thank You Mom, Thank You Mom,” for Edge’s mother.

Edge then held up the World Heavyweight Championship belt, and said that in his opinion, it never belonged to him. He felt that everyone in the locker room owned a piece of it. In closing he wanted to thank all of the WWE fans, because he had one heck of a career, and one heck of a ride. And with that, Edge relinquished his WWE World Championship Belt, which he laid in the center of the ring, and walked away with the crowd chanting for him… as his music played one last time.
