WWE Raw: John Cena’s Emotional Goodbye

November 23rd, 2010 - 1:12 pm ICT by Angela Kaye Mason

Nov 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the Nexus took the stage last night on WWE Monday Night Raw, the crowd chanted for Cena so loud that Wade Barrett could barely talk. Barrett finally went on to explain that he never had a fighting chance to win the match at Survivor Series, because John Cena was willing to risk his entire career to be sure that Barrett did not win. Barrett went on to ask for another opportunity to take on Randy Orton with a new referee, so that he can prove to the world that he can beat Orton.

The Raw General Manager then came via email to say he would grant Barrett his title match to be fought that night. Wade insisted that he enjoyed firing John Cena last night, but that he would allow Cena to come out and tell his fans goodbye a final goodbye. Is the Nexus setting a trap for John?

Michale Cole shocked everyone by announcing the newest member of the Raw announcement team, CM Punk. Punk came out to take a seat at the announcers table as the next match began. It was a qualifying match for next week’s ‘King of the Ring’ tournament. Sheamus came out to wrestle against R True. R True seemed to be winning as he id a Missile Drop Kick on Sheamus, but only managed to get a two count on the Scotsman. Sheamus recovered and kicked R True in his gold teeth, and put him in a High Cross, pinning R True for a three count to win the match.

The next match was also a ‘King of the Ring’ qualifying match. Ezekiel Jackson was up against the Miz. Alex Riley came out to announce that Miz had an anxiety attack early, so Riley would be competing in his place. Jackson very quickly won his chance at ‘King of the Ring’.

And the moment which fans had been waiting for had finally arrived. John Cena’s name was called, his music began and the crowd went wild. He marched out with his pride intact and a smile on his face for the screaming audience. “See if you are gonna go out, that’s how ya go out, not in a referee shirt carrying someone else’s bag, if I am leaving, I am leaving just like this!” Cena yelled. He went on to tell what happened last night at Survivor Series, which ended with his being fired.

I never thought this day would come, that this day would happen,” John said, “Heck, who am I kidding, before I got this job I was living in my car cleaning toilets” he said, ‘ I never thought any of this would ever happen! Over the years you’ve kinda gotten to know me. Here’s the deal though, you only see what you see on tv. There’s a lot about me and everyone else that you don’t know. I’ve only got a few seconds so I got to say this one thing. You guys have no idea how much I respect this company not just today, but since the beginning. Men like Steve Austin, Triple H, Undertaker, Heartbreak Kid.” Cena explained that he always wanted to be able to look those guys in the eye and have their respect.

“I know you think I got a bad deal, but it has actually been pretty wonderful. I got to dance with Hall of Famers, travel the world, meet millions of people and live a fantasy. I am not gonna let what Nexus has done in the last few months ruin what I have done for the last nine years. The WWE became my life. My family has been so patient with me. (At this point John’s voice broke and the tears shined. At this point everyone began to believe that he really was leaving.)They have let me be me, but the truth is my brother Matt had a baby girl and I missed it, my mom’s birthday is in a couple of days. I am leaving here, and going home, and I am going to see that baby for the first time, and my mom is gonna get the best present she has had in ten years, cause I am gonna hug her and tell her I love her and all the money in the world cannot buy her that!”

He cried as he smiled and told his fans goodbye. “Remember everybody out there, it is your passion that keeps us coming back.”

About Wade Barrett he said, “I think the kid actually has a little bit of talent and I want to help him out before leave….Stop taking shortcuts, stop taking the easy way out. These fans will give you everything is you give everything in return.” His only “Thank you” was to the WWE Universe. He thanked his fans for sticking by him for 9 years, and for understanding all this. “I love you to death, let’s go home!” and with tears behind his smile, John Cena gave his final salute, and left the ring for the last time, as the WWE wrestlers gathered in the back to bid him farewell. He hugged Orton goodbye, and walked out of the arena for good. CM Punk was heard saying, “John Cena has left the building.”

As Orton was coming out to defend his WWE Championship against Wade Barrett, the Nexus attacked him, leaving him limping on a bad knee, but he still insisted on fighting Barrett. Barrett had Orton down on the mat and almost had the three count when….John Cena came out and began to beat Barrett down!!!! As the Nexus chased Cena out of the arena, Randy Orton won the match to keep his championship.

The Miz then came in to cash in his “Money in the Bank” and took the Championship from the injured Orton, but Cena’a final lethal blow to Wade Barrett made sure the Nexus leader did not win.
