WWE Raw: Cena Addresses the 1st Amendment
July 5th, 2011 - 12:20 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonJuly 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the July 4th edition of ‘WWE Monday Night Raw’ began last night, John Cena, the Champ made his way out the the ring carrying the WWE Championship Belt with him. He addressed the antics of CM Punk which managed to end with Punk being fired from the WWE. He was suspended indefinitely after he ranted last week at the end of the show. This means he will not be the one facing John Cena at the ‘Money in the Bank’ pay per view event which is coming up.
John Cena said that although he never saw eye to eye with Punk, he feels that the decision by the WWE brass was wrong. Cena feels that no one should ever be suspended for speaking your mind. Even though Punk’s outburst was against John Cena himself, he defends Punk’s right to say it. Cena reminded everyone of the WWE confiscating the signs which the audience members make…and now Punk is fired for speaking his mind? Cena feels that the WWE brass has went too far. The audience began to chant the First Amendment…which is “Freedom of Speech.” “Where does it end?” he asked, before informing Michael Cole that there would be no “anonymous general manager” interruptions this time. Cena wants to hear from Vincent McMahon, Chairman of the WWE. Cena said that he wants to face CM Punk at Money in the Bank.
Vincent McMahon agreed to meet with Cena, and flew in on his private jet for the event. Arriving just before the end of the show, McMahon came out to address the issue which John Cena had with the decision to fire CM Punk. He says that Punk deserves to be suspended because of the fact that he was asking for too much money on his contract, and wanting too many amenities. He went on to say that he was going to stand by his decision to fire Punk.
Just then, John Cena came out and informed McMahon the Punk had the right to say what he wanted to, that he has Freedom of Speech due to the American First Amendment to the Constitution. Cena tells McMahon that he still wants to face Punk. McMahon finally admitted that he wanted Punk gone so that there was no risk of him leaving with the WWE World Championship title. McMahon went on to say that he would not reinstate Punk, no matter what the fans want.
Cena then addressed McMahon, sharing his firm standing on Punk’s right to say what he wanted to. Cena then handed the WWE Championship belt, and turned to walk out of the ring. It seemed as though Cena did not wish to be a part of an organization which takes away the right of it’s employees to speak their mind. Just then, McMahon agrees to reinstate Punk, but on one condition…if Punk beats Cena, then Cena is fired.
