World’s 1st Sikh supermodel makes his debut in GQ magazineApril 3rd, 2009 - 12:39 pm ICT by ANI
London, Apr 3 (ANI): World’s 1st turbaned Sikh supermodel Sonny Caberwal has been featured in the renowned GQ magazine.
Caberwal looks dazzling in a black dinner jacket, black silk scarf, and a pink turban in the GQ pic, shot by Gregor Hohenberg.
Sonny Caberwal, a businessman by profession, is grateful to his looks that have landed him multifarious fashion assignments.
Caberwal was discovered by American fashion designer Kenneth Cole, and has left the Sikh community beaming with pride ever since.
“Cole was looking for a turbaned man for their 25th anniversary campaign, but could find no professional Sikh model. My brother-in-law suggested that I email a photo to them, and the rest is history,” the Telegraph quoted Caberwal as saying.
Even Caberwal, who was working as a business developer for IT companies while running his own tea firm, is dazed to see his popularity gaining momentum with each passing day.
He is elated to receive encouraging response for his GQ debut, and is happy to know that his accomplishment will boost the confidence of many aspiring Sikh models.
“It’s not about me, but about Sikh identity and about our culture and traditions being in a positive light to people around the world,” Caberwal said.
Meanwhile, Caberwal has also featured in a video called “We Walk in Different Shoes”, and has been signed up by the American and South African model agency Boss. (ANI)
