World Cinema Mondays by NDTV Lumière in Bangalore
August 22nd, 2009 - 1:59 pm ICT by Sampurn WireNDTV Lumière and Kyra, the state of the art restaurant and performance space come together this August to give cinema lovers in Bangalore a splendid session of the best in World Cinema along with live performances by bands through their newest initiative “Music and Movies’.
Kicking off on Monday, August 24th, “Music and Movies’ will provide movie lovers with an opportunity to watch music based films followed by a band performance based on the theme of the film. The unique initiative will take place every fourth Monday of the month at 8.00 pm.
Announcing the initiative with Carlsberg, Mr. Dhruvank Vaidya, Business Head, NDTV Lumiere, said, “As we continue to enhance the unique experiences that we offer our viewers, we present to you Music and Movies. Here we will showcase our best music themed feature films followed by live band performances based on the theme of the film. This is a very unique property where the movie sets the tempo, which is then carried forward by the live performance. I am sure that Bangalore audiences will love this new concept. NDTV Lumiere is happy to partner with Kyra to bring this new form of entertainment to Bangalore. The “Music and Movies’ property will soon be taken to other cities as well.”
“Music and Movies’ will commemorate its launch with the screening of a cult movie on the legendary Bob Dylan. Watch a poet, prophet, outlaw, fake, star of electricity, rock and roll martyr, born-again Christian- seven identities braided together in one story “I’m Not There’. Directed by Todd Haynes, “I’m Not There’ is a Hollywood biopic, exploding the literal-minded, anti-intellectual assumptions that guide even the most admiring cinematic explorations of artists’ live.
Following the screening, Bridge a six-piece Rock n Roll band from Bangalore, will enthrall the audiences as they perform Bob Dylan covers. Happy to be associated with NDTV Lumière, Dipali Sikand- Chair Person, Kyra, said, “At Kyra our endeavor is to bring to Bangalore a place where the lovers of performance arts and connoisseurs of fine food converge. That’s why we have a fine dining restaurant where the cuisine traces the ancient spice route as well as a world-class performance venue open to everyone from bands to theatre across genres, every single day! It’s quite a heady combination.”
“Music and Movies’ will have free screenings every fourth Monday of the month. The screenings are free and open to all. So make your date with the very best of Music and Movies from across the globe in the intimate auditorium of Kyra, starting Monday, August 24th, 2009.
