Woody Allen says he’s too old to play romantic lead in films
May 17th, 2010 - 6:04 pm ICT by ANILondon, May 17 (ANI): Woody Allen has confessed that it was “no fun” growing too old to play the romantic lead and that is the reason why he has stopped acting in his own films.
The ‘Annie Hall’ director said it was “frustrating” watching younger actors play opposite his leading ladies.
“For years I played the romantic lead, and then I couldn’t play it any more because I got too old to play it, and it’s just no fun not playing the guy who gets the girl,” the Mirror quoted Allen, 74, as saying.
The director, whose new movie ‘You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger’, starring Naomi Watts, Freida Pinto and Anna Friel, is screening out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival
“You can imagine how frustrating it is when I play these movies with Scarlett Johansson and Naomi Watts - and the other guys get them and I’m the director,” said Allen. (ANI)
