Wooden flooring gains popularity in J-KJune 6th, 2008 - 1:28 pm ICT by ANI
Srinagar, June 6 (ANI): Wooden flooring known for its elegant finish is gaining popularity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Traditional wooden flooring, which was loosing its shine due to rising competition from marbles and granites, is gaining popularity due to its better finishing and ability to maintain temperature and in keeping the room warm.
“If we look 25-30 years back, normal furnishing was used. Then came high quality carpets. Today, wooden flooring is used more than the carpets. Carpet needs more maintenance and carpet last for five to six years only. But in wooden flooring, the maintenance is very low. So people prefer it more,” said Bilal Ahmad, a dealer.
During past few years, the introduction of various kinds of designer tiles and granites had replaced the wooden flooring.
“People like wooden items more. The demand for it is increasing day-by-day,” said Mudasir, a flooring installer.
Costing from five to twelve dollars per square foot, wooden flooring is considered a long-term investment with an ability to fit any decor. (ANI)
