July 3, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Wonder Woman, the 69 year old comic book super heroine, has gone for a 21st century makeover to suit the taste of this generation. The 600th issue of the comic book will show her sporting a new look.

The new look of Wonder Woman will be dressed in urban leggings which will replace her hot long pants. The new writer for the DC Comics series J. Michael Straczynski said that he wanted to give ‘Wonder Woman’ a modern sensibility making her tougher. He planned to change the outfit of the super heroine, which she had been carrying for last seven decades.

In her new avatar, ‘Wonder woman’ will be seen in dark leggings with a studded denim jacket, gloves in new designs and spurs on her heeled boots. Korean-American artist Jim Lee of X-Men fame, has designed the new look.

Straczynski said, “Wonder Woman was trapped in 1941. All my female friends used to ask me how can she fight with that bustier attire without all the parts flying out? So, it was clear that all wanted to see her in a toughened look, which should make her more serious and dynamic.”

However, now Wonder Woman, aka Diana Prince will look more like an urban hipster of the modern-day. She will sport a motorcycle jacket along with little bootie-like shoes.

DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio said, “The new Wonder Woman still has the tiara, the magic lasso, the belt, the chest plate and also the bracelets but they are little molded.”

It will be interesting to see if the Wonder Woman fans can accept her new modern look when she appears in the 600th issue.
