Woman excuses herself from jury duty for Oprah show

Chicago, April 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A judge on Wednesday agreed to grant the request of a juror to stay out of the jury proceedings and attend Oprah Winfrey’s show. The woman is a prospective juror in the case involving Rod Blagojevich.

The woman was only identified as Juror 137. She has the ticket to attend the final show of Oprah Winfrey’s show. The defense and the prosecution team agreed to excuse the woman from the jury.

Blagojevich is being tried for trying to sell the seat of President Barack Obama. The retrial is taking place at the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse. After Wednesday hearing, the former governor told reporters that he has great admiration for Oprah adding that he considered giving Obama’s seat to her.

The prosecution is using a voice recording as evidence against Blagojevich. Blagojevich has maintained his innocence since the trial began.

Oprah Winfrey’s show is going to end after a quarter of a century in the United States. The show has been considered the most successful in the history of television talk show in the United States. Oprah has started her own network called Oprah Winfrey Network(OWN). The network which was launched at the beginning of the year has struggled to live up to the pre-launch hype.
