“Wipeout” Contestant Newly Married Tom Sparks Died Of Stroke

Nov.13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The reality show of ABC network, “Wipeout” produced by Endemol lost its first contestant, Tom Sparks, a young man of 33 years. He along with his newly married wife had contested in the show but declared quitting after a short span, as his health had deteriorated. He complained of short breathe and knee pain, which made the organizers of the show admit him to Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He was under medical treatment for many days and had undergone several brain surgeries, but could not survive and died of stroke.
It has been indicated by the sources that Tom Sparks was suffering from a rare disease, “antiphospholipid antibody syndrome”, which clots blood in the body of a person, finally leading to his death. Sources state that his father has also notified that Sparks had a blood clotting problem which might be the cause of his death. No one from Sparks’ family has made any communication with the show producer Endemol. The news of the young contestant’s death might have been disappointing for everyone yet media sources has not received any comment from the producers of “Wipeout”.
The contestants of “Wipeout” have to cross four obstacles to win the show. All the participants of the show need to undergo different medical examinations before they are allowed to take part in any of the games. Tom Sparks did not have any kind of health issues when he participated in the show. Yet, he later suffered from health problems and left the show during “The Qualifier” [first course], first section.
