May 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Comedian Will Ferrell assumed the role of a baseball player in his debut in the Minor League Baseball. On Friday, he dressed up as Billy Ray Rojo Johnson, and took the pitcher’s mound in the game of the Round Rock Express against the Nashville Sound. He took to the field as part of the promotional campaign for the Wills Powered Golf Classic. The establishment organizes charity events, the proceeds for which goes to the College for Cancer, which is an organization raising awareness about the deadly disease.
This is not the first time that Will Ferrell donned the cap of an athlete. Before this, he had assumed the roles of a basketball player, NASCAR racer, and figure skater in films such as ‘Talladega Nights’, ‘Blades of Glory’ and ‘Semi-Pro.’ However, this is the first time that he has appeared in person in the disguise of a sportsperson, and that too, in order to take part in an actual minor league game.
However, Billy Ray Rojo Johnson did not last for very long in the game against the Nashville Sound. He had hardly been there a few minutes when he got into a fight with the umpire about a wild pitch that he tossed, and sprayed his face with the beer that he carried with him when he entered the field.
His behavior on the field was very true to the character that Will Ferrell had drawn up for his latest sports persona. The character has been drawn as debutant in American Baseball with the game of Friday, before which he had been imprisoned or smuggling rare reptiles, and also played in the Venezuelan Leagues.
