July 28, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Eva Longoria-Parker, the star of the ‘Desperate Housewives’ has managed to win over millions of American viewers with her performance. Certain reports, however, hint at the star being keen to play a comic book superhero character now. She will apparently be meeting Marvel to discuss her role in an upcoming movie.

The reports do not give details of her role. The character of ‘The Wasp’ in the upcoming film, ‘Avengers’ may be the one finalized for her. However, it is not clear as of now.

Longoria-Parker has quashed the rumors and said that she will not be seen as the insect superhero in any of the ‘Avenger’ movies. The actress refrained from making further comments about the role that she will be playing in future. Nor did she clarify the nature of her talks with Marvel. Her love for comic books was apparent from her words though. She said that she loves the stuff and thinks that it is fun.

Eva, herself is not averse to the idea of playing the shrinking, insect in any of the ‘Avenger’ movies but nothing has been finalized for now and she categorically stated that it was all a fantastic rumor. “I’m going to go with it for now,” she added. “Maybe it will get me hired.” She concluded hopefully.

Fox News reported that Marvel finds her just right for the role. She was made to read for the part as well as face the camera. She seems to have the right attitude and size and she is high on energy as well cute and sexy. The character is also somewhat like that of Gabby, her screen persona in the ‘Desperate Housewives’.

The same source reported that Nathan Fillion is being considered to play the part of Ant-Man who is married to the Wasp. Together the duo will make a hilarious couple and have great chemistry on screen, added the source.

The ‘Avengers’ will be releasing in 2012.
