August 10, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):Neela Telefilms’ sitcom “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ on SAB TV is a very popular family entertainer. However, recently a bhootnee (ghost) has created a big uproar in the serial. “Asit Modi has been receiving so many messages and mails regarding this twist in the serial. And many of them didn’t like the recent inclusion of the ghost because kids are getting scared. On the other hand, so many others are enjoying this special entry and a twist in the show”, says a source from the sets.

Explaining why exactly the story was created by the director, a source says, “Shooting of “Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ goes on both day and night shifts and everybody gets tired. The director always tries to keep everybody entertained with jokes and pranks. So recently while shooting for Gokul Dham premiere league 2, the director along with Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) decided to scare the female co-actors by spreading the rumor of a ghost on the sets. They started discussing about ghosts. Initially, the ladies shrugged it off. Then the duo actually played the real prank. They asked a lady to wear a white sari and roam around the set in a mysterious manner. This made the ladies really scared. Daya (Disha Wakani) said that she has never been so scared in her life and actually screamed. So did Madhavi Bhide (Sonalika), who had apparently started chanting mantras”.

“It was a treat to watch the entire unit in distraught. This incident inspired the director to combine fear with humor”, adds source.

But then there are few who find it scary. Talking on it Dilip Joshi says, “All will be fine once the ghost story reaches its end. Didn’t we have the monkey man roaming the city of Delhi and terrorizing people? This is the pun on such beliefs”.

We agree with you Dilip. On the one hand, if people are scared by the track, there are others also who are enjoying the track to the fullest.
