Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Katie Stephens was the first to perform in the ladies competition tonight on American Idol and after her performance of the Kelly Clarkson song “Break Away” she was not winning over the judges. The panel of judges all thought the song was to big for her and that she is struggling to find what genre of songs she is comfortable performing. Simon did applaud her for listening to their advice and saw she was improving. As stated earlier in the show this is the night that will make it or break it for them. We are closing in on the final 12, so they need to sing their hearts out tonight. Siobhan Magnus did just that; her performance of “The House of the Rising Sun” moved her to the front of the pack. Kara loved her powerful voice, Simon on the other hand pointed out she lost her moment like the one she had last week with her Aretha Franklin song. Lacey Brown with her unique voice had some great reviews from the judges. Katie Epperly stood in front of her keyboard and tried hard to win over the judges, but tonight was not the night. With a guitar and a Stevie Nicks song Didi Benami didn’t seem to falter and the judges agreed. Smile is not what happened when Paige Miles performed the song “Smile”. Ellen advised her that song choice is very important at this stage of the competition and was sorry to tell her that was not the song to keep her in the game. Crystal Bowersox had her moment and stood out from the rest of the ladies. Simon told her she is the one to beat in the ladies competition. The final performer Lilly Scott sang Pasty Cline and brought a more current version to the song “I fall to pieces” and won praise from all the judges.
Which two ladies will be voted off the singing competition show? Tune in Thursday for the results on American Idol.
