Who will be the next American Idol: Kris or Adam?May 20th, 2009 - 11:01 pm ICT by GD
Kara DioGuardi and a couple of co-writers (including early ’90s pop chanteuse Cathy “Toxic” Dennis) penned “No Boundaries” for the top two contestants of American Idol, making Adam Lambert sound suddenly shrill and Kris Allen off-beat after all these weeks of singing. It certainly did nothing for the two finalists on season 8 of the show, and neither did the other four performances work any magic. Adam crooned “Mad World” by Tears for Fears and “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Kris went second to sing “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers and “What’s Goin’ On” very predictably. It did not cause any major upsets in their fan base, though Kris did sound a tiny bit better than Adam this evening. However, if Simon Cowell’s prediction and the overall show performances are anything to go by, it will be Adam who takes home the title at the Nokia Center in downtown Los Angeles in the final face-off between the two.
The Nokia Center has already rolled out the red carpet for the two finalists of season 8 and hundreds of fans have queued up with handmade American Idol posters to cheer their heroes and Ryan Seacrest said, “The acoustic rocker vs the glam rocker, Conway vs California, The guy next door vs the guy liner…it comes down to Kris and Adam… ”
Simon Cowell, the judge that has been most difficult to please through the season was full of encouragement for both the contestants in the pre-finale show. He told Adam Lambert, “Over the entire season you’ve been the best most original contestant….you hope you can find a worldwide star….I genuinely believe we’ve found this with you.” For Kris, Simon had nice words too, and commented, “I think the first song was your highlight…watching you tonight has been incredible…you’ve come a long way…you have thoroughly deserved to be standing on the stage tonight.”
