Who Will Be Appropriate For 2 States - Deepika Or Priyanka?

October 20, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It has been just a few days that Siddharth Anand has announced that he will be making a film on Chetan Bhagat’s latest bestseller ‘2 States’ as he has bought the movie rights of the novel. It was reported that the film will go on floors with Saif Ali Khan in the lead role of a Punjabi guy.
However, the controversy has risen regarding the female lead. A buzz is doing the rounds that producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Siddharth are already in a fall out regarding the leading lady. They are willing to cast Deepika Padukone in the lead role as they feel that she can justify the character of a South Indian girl better than Priyanka Chopra.
Moreover, Deepika and Saif have been loved by the audience as a onscreen couple in the movie Love Aaj Kal, in which Saif played a Punjabi man for the first time. Their chemistry looked good onscreen so the same pair may work well in ‘2 States’ too.
However, the makers are not in a mood to disclose the cast officially at this moment because everything is at a very initial stage now. We, too, agree with the producer and the director that Deepika will be appropriate and will fit in better than Priyanka when the role demands a South Indian girl.
