Nov 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The “2009 American Music Awards” that was held yesterday witnessed scintillating performances by some of the big names from the music industry. With Fergie and Rihanna performing on the same stage, it is obvious that the temperature would soar up to wuthering heights. However, what made the award ceremony so precious was the performance of the veteran “pop-diva” Whitney Houston. Billed as one of the biggest comebacks of recent times, the pop-princess lived up to the hype and set the stage on fire.

The audience witnessed an amazing performance of Whitney who belted out her new song “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”. Whitney, whose musical career had taken a jolt much because of her turbulent personal life and her tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband Bobby Brown that ended in a bitter divorce, sang with much ease and confidence. Striking the right chord with her powerful vocals, Whitney’s performance somehow reflected her present mental state. It seemed that the pop-diva has regained her “strength” and that too at the right time. Elegantly clad in a white dress and looking fresh and charming as ever, Whitney Houston’s performance kept the audience glued to their seat. It was quite obvious that Whitney was severely moved when the audience gave her a rounding applause after the completion of the song.

For mere audiences, the AMA will be remembered as a glorious musical extravaganza, but for Whitney the event will be noted down as “the shooting star”, where the singer regained her “strength”. Probably that is why she included the line “I was not built to break” in her song.
