‘When Harry Met Sally’ Actress Dies at Age 50

Nov 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress, singer, and wife of producer Steve Stark, Michelle Nicastro passed away on November 4, 2010 after a ten year battle with cancer. She was fifty years old.

Best known for her part in ‘When Harry Met Sally’ where her character introduced Harry and Sally, Nicastro also starred as the voice of the swan in ‘The Swan Princess’, ‘Body Rock’ and ‘Bad Guys’. She also made appearances in ‘Beverly Hills 90210, and ‘It’s Garry Shandling’s Show’, for which she won ACE and BMI awards for an original song which she co-wrote and performed on the show. She was an accomplished and world renown singer as well.

Among her other performances were parts in ‘Coach’, ‘Wings’, ‘Murder, She Wrote’, ‘Full House’, ‘Who’s The Boss’, ‘Simon and Simon’, and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’. She starred as ‘Sasha’ on ‘Santa Barbara.

Nicastro was diagnosed with breast cancer on her fortieth birthday. Soon after, she and three of her friends started a company which they named ‘Truly Mom’ which specializes in planners and custom stationery. Their motto is ‘Live Life!’. They were named last year’s ‘Women Entrepreneurs of the Year by ‘Country Living Magazine’.

Instead of flowers, her daughters are asking that donations be sent to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for the Kling Street Kids, which is a annual fundraiser which they created to help kids who were not as fortunate as they considered themselves to be, or to the Michelle Nicastro Memorial Musical Theatre Fund, which will help undergraduates who are studying theater and music at Northwestern University.
