Los Angeles, Nov 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There has been an end of an era following the death of Charlie O’Donnell. O’Donnell died at the age of 78 years on late Sunday at his Los Angeles home. The cause of his death is not known.

If you are not familiar with O’Donnell, he is the voice behind the “Wheel of Fortune” for several years. He also provided his rich voice for Oscar and Emmy telecasts over the years. The veteran New York DJ was involved in several shows all over the world.

He was part of “American Bandstand” and was the voice behind the game “The Newlywed Game”. His voice over the years became very popular and his signature words “Wheeeeeeel of Fortune” was associated with the Wheel of Fortune show.

Interestingly he was there when the show started in 1975. He worked with the show’s first host, Chuck Woolery. He however left the show in 1980 but made a U-turn in 1988. He has since been on the show until his death in last Sunday. May his soul rest in perfect peace and may his family find a lasting replacement for this great loss.
