Two days after his death, Billy Mays still remains a hot searched topic on the Internet; as people are eager to know the exact reason that lead to his abrupt demise. Billy Mays, the “Shamwow” guy passed away on June 28, Sunday, at the age of 50.
Initially, the reason for his death was thought to be an injury that he had received. On Saturday night, Mays was on a flight to his home, when his flight had to make a rough landing. After the landing, he had complained of receiving a rough blow to his head. However, the results of his autopsy reveals that he did not die of any blunt trauma to his head. Initial medical examinations had led the doctors to also rule out substance abuse with prescribed medication; Mays was due for a hip replacement surgery in a few days time and was on prescribed pain killers.
According to reports posted on People.com, the cause of Mays’ death is pulmonary embolism. However, that does not seem to be the case. Dr. Vernard Adams, a medical examiner from the Hillsborough County, Tampa (Florida), has revealed the preliminary findings of the autopsy results at a press conference, “The autopsy done this morning reveals no evidence of head trauma or drug abuse. There had been speculation that Mays might have been injured during a hard landing at Tampa International Airport on Saturday but that was ruled out as well as pulmonary embolism (blood clot/lungs).”
But the Los Angeles Times reports that Mays’ autopsy report reveals that he died of heart disease, as revealed by the coroner.
