“The Tonight Show” host, Jay Leno who will be turning 59 on the coming Tuesday, was hospitalized on Thursday. But according to the latest reports, Jay Leno was doing well in the hospital and will be back in business the coming week.

As per to the statement from Tracy St. Pierre, the NBC spokeswoman, “Jay Leno is doing just fine.” She further added that Leno was in his usual spirits, saying “He was kidding around with the hospital staff and running his monologue jokes by the doctors and the nurses. He’s expected back to work on Monday.”

Around midday, on Thursday, Jay Leno left his office at the NBC’s studio by himself and checked into the hospital for routine observation. However, the nature of his illness is still undisclosed. Leno’s publicist, Dick Guttman did not disclose any information on what was ailing the “showman”, however a hint was given that the ailment was mild and not serious.

Due to his surprise hospitalization, the tapings of the “Tonight Show” for Thursday and Friday had to be canceled. For the Thursday’s show with Jay Leno a variety of celebrities, including actor Ryan Reynolds, the swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and the animal trainer Jules Sylvester had been booked but instead according to the website “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” the NBC network will be airing the rerun the episode of 26th March on Thursday night that features interviews with actors Paul Giamatti and the “Juno” girl Emma Roberts and the musical performance by the Prince.
