West End theatres fighting to host Cat Stevens’ new musical
September 18th, 2009 - 5:34 pm ICT by ANILondon, Sep 18 (ANI): Brit musician Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam, is back into the limelight, with West End theatres fighting it out to host his new musical.
The 61-year-old singer is planning a series of concerts as well as his show, ‘Moonshadow’.
The production is particularly poignant for Yusuf, who had a lonely childhood growing up on London’s Shaftesbury Avenue, the heart of the West End.
“Growing up in the West End surrounded by theatres left a strong impression on me. I originally wanted to be a composer, not a pop star,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying. (ANI)
