Los Angeles, April 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘Water for Elephants’ will release in the cinemas this weekend. According to pre-release analysts, the movie is expected to place second behind Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Big Happy Family.”

‘Water for Elephants’ is based on the best-selling novel of Sara Gruen. The story is set around the period of the Great Depression that struck the United States in the 1920s to the 30s. The movie features Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. Reports say the movie was produced at a cost of $40 million. It is however expected to open at sub-$20 million this weekend. Initial survey suggests that the movie will sell about $15 million worth of tickets when it premieres in the weekend.

“Madea’s Big Happy Family” is expected to do much better. The movie from Tyler is expected to rake in some $30 million and take the top spot of the Box Office for this week. If that happens, Lionsgate will be smiling all the way to the bank because they spent $25 million on the movie.

A film about some wild carnivores, “African Cats,” is expected to gross $7 million in its opening weekend at the various cinemas.
