Feb 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Before the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards Show even aired, Eminem had already won “Best Rap Solo” for ‘Not Afraid’, his new hit song off of his album entitled ‘Recovery’. But he was not the only Hip Hop star which managed to win an award prior to the show, Jay-Z won ‘Best Sung/Rap Collaboration’ for his song ‘State of Mind’ which Alicia Keys assisted on, from his ‘Blueprint II’ album.

But perhaps one of the most anticipated moments of the entire night was the performance which included Eminem, Rihanna, Dr Dre, and Skylar Grey. Despite battling laryngitis as well as bronchitis, Rihanna opened up the collaborative song with ‘Love the Way You Lie’ and pulled it off without a hitch. Looking gorgeous in her long, billowing black dress with yellow and orange accents, she sang as though she had no illness at all. She had Tweeted, “I’m on every med under the sun! Don’t wanna miss a thang!!!” over the weekend, and apparently the meds and her determination paid off.

As Rihanna belted out ‘Love the Way You Lie’, Eminem walked out on to the stage with fiery flames in the background. He rapped his part of the song as the crowds went wild. As Rihanna finished off her art of the song, saying “Love the way you lie,” she pointed at Eminem as he turned away from her, crossing his arms…the lights faded, and Skylar Grey began to sing ‘I Need A Doctor’, with which Eminem rapped as well. “Ladies and Gentlemen, Dr Dre!” Eminem announced as Dr Dre himself walked down the steps onto the stage. It was an awesome performance which shows just why these artists are Grammy Winners.
