Los Angeles, Mar 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Encouraged by the huge success of the 3D movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’, Warner Bros is thinking about a remake of the legendary ‘The Wizard of Oz’, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Warner Bros is thinking about a ‘darker’ remake of the legendary movie of 1939 – Alice in Wonderland. They have even tweaked the story line, and the plot would focus on Dorothy’s granddaughter who would return to Oz, to battle with evil.

Besides Warner, other production giants like Disney and Universal also have some plans in the pipeline for the remake of the classic movie. Universal is thinking about a Broadway musical titled ‘Wicked’ that is a prequel to the events in the book, as well as the 1939 classic movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The movie is based on the popular children’s book, which have been authored by L. Frank Baum.

Disney is planning a project in which they would relate the events about how the wizard came to be placed behind the curtain. “Some critics may bray, but if it’s done well, the movie could be kind of brilliant, a deepening of the mythology that started with The Wiz and continued with Wicked,” say the Times reporters Steven Zeitchik and Claudia Eller.
