Los Angeles, Sept 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Comedienne Wanda Sykes has revealed that she had treatment for breast cancer. When the 47-year-old appeared on Ellen DeGeneres show, she revealed that she had a history of cancer in her family so when she was diagnosed with the disease and the options for treatment, she opted to have bilateral mastectomy.

Wanda said she got to know about her cancer last February when she had her breast size reduced.

She told DeGeneres that, “I had real big boobs and I just got tired of knocking over stuff. Every time I eat — oh lord I’d carry a Tide stick everywhere I go. My back was sore so it was time to have a reduction.”

Wanda said her cancer was found at the early stage so it was quickly taken care of. She admitted that although she realized that the condition had been found early and doctors will be able to manage it, she still had some panic moments because as she put it “cancer is cancer.” This is the first time that she is sharing her cancer experience saying she didn’t know at first if it was a good idea to share it.

Wanda is a lesbian and the mother of 2-year-old twins. She is married to Alex, who is the wife.
